Wicked Weekend Vol 6

For this weekend Allhorror recommends some fine space horror.

1. Aliens (1986)

This is a sequel to the 1979 masterpiece Alien. Aliens was directed by James Cameron back in 1986.  This is the same man who brought us Terminator so you know this action sci-fi space horror is going to be epic! Similar to the first film it stars Sigourney Weaver as Ellen Ripley, but this time instead of fighting just one Xenomorph we have a whole army of them. It does not matter if you are already familiar with this movie, or if you even saw it recently. Aliens is one of those films you can watch any time and it has rightfully earned a high place on most horror lists.

2. Pandorum (2009)

Our second pick for this weekend that you can enjoy is a psychological space horror. Pandorum is an underrated gem and we encourage you to give it a go. It was brought to us by the same guys that made Resident Evil, and yes I know the franchise is a fail in every direction but for some reason I honestly loved the first film. And it also has a great acting crew: Dennis Quaid, Ben Foster and fan favorite Walking Dead tracker Norman Reedus aka Daryl Dixon (before he was famous lol) but some of us hardcore horror fans also remember him from Blade 2.

3. Event Horizon (1997)

Event Horizon is best explained with 3 words: Hell in Space. If you are wondering what to expect here is a small intro that will surely make you want to see it right away:

“Event Horizon is a bizarrely fantastic horror Sci-Fi flick, it's a cult classic for a reason. If you haven't seen it, imagine a movie where The Shining takes place aboard the ship in Alien that summons Cenobites from Hellraiser who party by throwing gory orgies (gorgies?) that make Baskin look like Basket Case.”

And if this is not enough, we also have a review prepared so you can get more detailed info for the film.

Starship Troopers (1997) is this week pick for a fun satirical action sci-fi film with horror elements (especially if you’re scared of giant bugs). Set in the future, the story follows a young soldier named Johnny Rico and his exploits in the Mobile Infantry. Rico's military career progresses from recruit to non-commissioned officer and finally to officer against the backdrop of an interstellar war between mankind and an arachnoid species known as "the Bugs". Great special effects, great story and lots of epic action scenes. One could say this film has it all: romance, drama, action, adventure… some would dare call it mediocre. So let us just meet in the middle and agree this is a great and entertaining film that you can enjoy with friends!

Hope you enjoy the list. Have a great weekend horrorfans!
