Wicked Weekend 10

We have reached the 10th wicked weekend in the series and for this one we prepared some interesting creature features that you might have missed. We have werewolves, crocodiles, spiders… so check them out and we hope you’ll enjoy!

1. Howl (2015)

This modern British horror take on the werewolves genre is tense, scary, gory, uses very little CGI and overall has a great scare/action ratio. When the train from Waterloo comes to a sudden halt on the track, passengers soon realize every carriage is a buffet car for a pack of werewolves living in the forest.

If you loved and are a fan of Dog Soldiers you will definitely enjoy this one:

2. Rogue (2007)

A group of people ventures into the sacred land where they encounter an ancient creature protecting the territory. This giant Croc horror is one of the best from the genre with only the recent horror hit from 2019 Crawl being able to match it. It all feels real and the scenario the actors are put in along with the atmosphere created sums up to a really great film:

3. Splinter (2008)

So, this creature is actually a parasitic fungal that infects, kills and takes control over the host. A young couple hoping for a romantic camping trip in the forests of Oklahoma gets their plans shattered when they are car-jacked by an escaped convict and his drug-addict girlfriend. The group gets a flat tire when they run over a splinter-infected animal on the road and finds shelter at what looks to be an abandoned gas station. Lots of scary scenes (highly recommended):

4. Altitude (2010)

So horrorfans, is anyone afraid of flying by plane? Yeah, me neither - huge lie, I would probably die of a heart attack even before I entered it and you would have to drag my corpse inside one of these flying metal buckets. How about when we add a storm, plane malfunctions and a giant creature into the mix? Yeah, not so harmless now, is it… This film is a good example of a sci-fi horror mix that even has that mind-bending alternate timelines subgenre but it works well here.

As for the bonus features we could not decide on just one film. For a fun weekend movie night here are our two picks:

Multiple earthquakes in the southern California have led to eruption of an ancient volcano in Santa Monica Mountains. Since there is already a way to evade lava – the “Duck & Cover” technique, this time nature has tested us once again by releasing the giant fire spitting tarantulas – yes, the LAVALANTULA!

This one is a no brainer – just sit back and get ready for 80 minutes of pure epicness!

A giant alien spider escapes from a military lab and rampages the city of Los Angeles. When a massive military strike fails, it is up to a team of scientists and one clever exterminator to kill the creature before the city is destroyed – yes, the BIG ASS SPIDER!

We wish you a great WEEKEND!
