Welcome, ghoulies and goblins, to another edition of AllHorror’s own Transylvania tabloid “The Howl”! Every Friday, the AllHorror Howl explores news of the horrifying, the shocking, and the intriguingly weird in and around horror culture.
It’s 363 days until Halloween! Sad jack-o-lanterns, that’s a long way away. In the meantime, we have to deal with all these other rotten, cheerful holidays with nearly no monsters in them. Stick with us, we’ll get you through it!
Today is finally THE DAY that Suspiria (2018) opens! This reboot of the 1977 Giallo classic has been much anticipated to say the least. It wisely chooses not to try imitating the greatness of Argento, in favor of finding its own style. We’ll see how that goes.
Oh yes... Mandy! We just covered the part of that movie where Cheddar Goblin, the main character in the movie, performs before a dumbstruck Nicholas Cage in his supporting role.
Well, it turns out that the director of Cheddar Goblin’s scene, Casper Kelly, is none other than the creator of the fun, bouncin’ theme to the TV sitcom Too Many Cooks. Presented here for your dewy-eyed consumption:
In the history of Cheddar Goblin, director Cosmatos tells the story of how he was inspired by the 1984 critter-feature Ghoulies, and got in touch with Kelly. The macaroni effect in the film ends up being part mac-and-cheese, part lemon Jell-O, and part pineapple Faygo - we dare you to try that exact recipe at home! Also, Cosby fans and Juggalos now have something to unite them at last, as was prophesied in the book of Judas.
There’s Like Chinese Ladies Getting Possessed And Stuff Out There
We check in with our friends over at the Nightmare365 podcast once in a moon to see what they’re up to, and this time we found a baffling lady in a Chinese store who seems to be fending off a demon or something:
Or perhaps she is battling a Manitou. A supernatural critter who’s on our minds lately for reasons we will reveal later. We see a store clerk rush over to help her, because demon possession is totally his problem to deal with. Real or fake? Nightmare365 has their own judgment, but we say this event clearly coincides because she has not been properly respectful of Cheddar Goblin.
He’s A Cereal Killer! Get It?
A while back, we did a post on TV commercials that parody horror movies, but the littlest zombie in our research pool made it to the front desk with the best of all those just a minute too late to post.
Anthony Perkins did a cereal commercial in character as Norman Bates from Psycho :
“I always do what my mother tells me!” takes on such a different meaning when it’s coming from Norman Bates.
Did We Mention We Got An Interview With A Director?
We’re so stoked our young site gets interviews now! Are you, dear readers, a director of anything horror-related? Reach out to us, we’re dying (literally AAAHHH!) to hear from you!
