A remake of the 1977 Dario Argento classic, Suspiria is helmed by Luca Guadagnino and follows an American ballet dancer (Dakota Johnson) as she joins a prestigious dance academy in Berlin, Germany only to find that other girls are disappearing, and the staff and school have a secret supernatural history and there are much more sinister goings-on behind the curtains. Guadagnino pays stylistic and musical homage to the original decade as the film is set in 1977 and delivers an emotionally turbulent tone. Between murder and mayhem there is also suspicion, terror, and dreamlike surrealism wrapped in dark winter tones.
