It's about a couple of guys who go back to visit a cult they once escaped, only to find themselves fighting a malicious supernatural phenomena threatening to keep them there.
The Endless was directed by Aaron Moorhead and Justin Benson (who also directed Resolution); and stars Aaron Moorhead, Justin Benson (from Spring) and Tate Ellington (from Sinister 2).
The Endless is sometimes considered a sequel to Resolution, but it's more like a standalone movie that shares some major plot points and expands upon the universe of Resolution. You could easily watch The Endless without ever seeing Resolution, but I can assure you that watching Resolution first will make this 8/10 movie a solid 10/10. Why? I couldn't possibly begin to explain without spoiling it and this is one double feature you want to go into as blindly as possible.
The Endless is more of a mind bending Sci-Fi than a horror and more Lovecraftian than anything else. There's not many movies like The Endless that come to mind, but movies like Coherence and The Ritual are somewhat similar.
This movie is a masterpiece. The complicated plot is thought provoking from start to finish. The characters are all deep and likable. The writing, acting, cinematography and editing are all incredible. There's just so much going on at all times, so many details, interwoven stories, two questions asked for every one answered, and all wrapped up in a visually stunning package. It's the kind of movie that will stick with you for days.
It's actually tough to talk about The Endless without risking spoilers, so I'll just wrap this up by saying it's one of the best Sci-Fi thrillers out there, if not the best.
