It's about a vampire hunter who must save a group of famous internet celebrities from having their rare blood drained by a secret cabal of powerful vampires.
Slayers was directed by K. Asher Levin and stars Thomas Jane (1922, The Veil, and Before I Wake), Abigail Breslin (Zombieland: Double Tap, Fear, and Maggie), Malin Åkerman (The Aviary, The Final Girls), Kara Hayward, Lydia Hearst (Titanic 666, Aileen Wuornos: American Boogeywoman, and The Haunting of Sharon Tate), Ashley Reyes, Adam Ambruso (Blind Ghost), and Julia Sandstrom.
The popularity of recent vampire-themed TV shows and movies like Interview with the Vampire and Let the Right One In, as well as films like Day Shift and The Invitation, highlights our ongoing fascination with these creatures. At the same time, social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok have made it possible for anyone with a camera and a forum to become a celebrity. So it's no surprise that Influencer culture is also prevalent right now. If you put a group of famous social media figures in a situation where they have to fight against a group of vampires, you'd have the perfect recipe for a modern horror comedy.
Slayers is a new horror movie directed by K. Asher Levin. It tells the story of Elliot Jones, a self-proclaimed vampire hunter, who teams up with a group of famous YouTubers who are being targeted by a secret society of powerful vampires. If you're in the mood for some good ol' fashioned campy fun mixed with a bit of social commentary, then Slayers is the film for you. It tells the story of a group of social media influencers who find themselves in a bloody fight for survival. The film is filled with over-the-top violence and laughs, and it will leave you entertained from start to finish.
After vampires killed Elliot Jones' daughter, he became obsessed with hunting them down. When he discovers that a group of social media influencers is being pursued by the world's largest vampire syndicate for the rare blood type they all share, he sets out to save them.
The Stream Team is self-absorbed and only cares about their wedding. However, they are persuaded by their manager David to promote a new vaccine that makes people immune to everything. Adam Ambruso and Malin Akerman play the Rektors behind the vaccine. The Rektors, a wealthy family, have offered a group of internet celebrities millions of dollars to join their company. The catch is that the stars must share a rare blood type with Stephen, the family's terminally ill son. If they agree, the Rektors have promised to leave their company to the celebrities after Stephen's death. However, the Rektors have been stalking the celebrities and only want them because their blood type would allow the Rektors to rule the world forever.
Elliot tries to warn the Stream Team about the Rektors' plan, but they're too busy with their wedding preparations to listen. Flynn is the only one who takes Elliot seriously, but even she is reluctant to believe the extent of the danger.
Breslin's role as a forgetful, self-involved character in Scream Queens is reprised in her role as a vampire in Slayers. Akerman is excellent as the sinister Beverly Rektor, who orders her vampires to try and drain the influencers' blood. The film follows Elliott, a vampire hunter trying to stop a group of vampires from carrying out their evil plan. The story is littered with Elliot's narration of historically successful vampires. However, not all of the jokes in the film land, the ones that do work, are delivered by Jane, who plays the grumpy, exhausted vampire hunter who wants the whole ordeal to be over as quickly as possible. Elliott and Flynn eventually team up, armed with vials of liquid garlic, to try and stop the vampires from carrying out their plan. Flynn live streams the entire ordeal to the Stream Team's followers.

Worth Watching?
The film Slayers is a sharp satire that aims at the self-obsessed influencer culture. Jane takes on the role of Elliot, a beleaguered individual who is pitted against the vampires in a fight to the death. Breslin and Akerman both deliver outstanding performances as members of the Stream Team who must battle the vampires. The film is hilariously self-aware and provides a candid look at the shallowness of influencer culture. Jane makes Slayers fun and bloody even when the jokes don't hit the mark.
