It's about a couple of guys in a remote cabin who have long conversations, experience some weird supernatural events, and then have more long conversations.
Resolution was directed by Justin Benson (who also directed The Endless and Spring) and Aaron Moorhead; and stars Peter Cilella (from Dementia), Vinny Curran (from Spring) and Zahn Mcclarnon.
I first watched Resolution a couple of years ago, well I watched about an hour of it before shutting it off. I was expecting a horror, what I got was a couple of guys in a cabin just talking (and talking... and talking).
Then I heard about The Endless and how great it was, and that it was a somewhat of a sequel to Resolution. So I decided to watch it all the way through as the first part of a double feature. I honestly didn't care for it so much. I get that the heavy dialog was purposeful, but man is it heavy. It's a great story, I really did like the characters and it was thought provoking overall, but the horror aspects of this movie were paper thin.
It's a Lovecraftian movie, meaning the threat was neither seen nor understood. This is what I liked most about Resolution. If only there was more horror and less bromance.
The third act does pack in some mystery and suspense, but overall Resolution is more of an indie drama than an indie horror.
