It's about a couple of backwoods families whose feud leads to an accidental death, and to the summoning of Pumpkinhead.
Pumpkinhead 4: Blood Feud was directed by Michael Hurst (who also directed House of the Dead 2 and The Darkroom) and stars Amy Manson (from Blood Monkey), Rob Freeman (from The Dead) and Lance Henriksen (from Needlestick, Wraith, The Unwilling).
Pumpkinhead 4 was apparently filmed back to back with Pumpkinhead 3, by the Sci-Fi channel, which is odd because part 3 was pretty good while part 4 was very not.
Blood Feud starts off running with Pumpkinhead already chasing a couple of guys through the woods with no explanation as to why he was re-re-resurrected once again. After the chase we get introduced to a couple of families with bad blood between them, and a romance between two members of each family. Of course, some good 'ol boys from one family catches the two and bad things happen. Pumpkinhead gets summoned to avenge a death and, well if you've seen the other three movies from this franchise you know the rest.
Ultimately this movie was pointless and unnecessary. Maybe it was just made for die-hard fans of the franchise who just wanted to see more Pumpkinhead, but for a number of reasons I kinda doubt that. It felt empty and generic. Ed Harley played a bigger role which was cool, but other than that the only other saving grace was the bigger emphasis on black comedy, such as this nursery rhyme which was delivered about as dramatically as humanly possible:
"Stay away from Pumpkinhead, unless you're tired of living. His enemies are mostly dead, he's mean and unforgiving."
Mean and unforgiving? Sounds more like an ex-wife than a demonic creature.
"Bolted doors and windows barred... guard dogs barking in the yard.. won't protect you in your bed, nothing will... from Pumpkinhead."
