It's about the leprechaun going to Hollywood to find a wife.

Leprechaun 2 was directed by Rodman Flender (who also directed Idle Hands and The Unborn) and stars Warwick Davis (from Small Town Folk, Skinned Deep and Leprechaun 6: Back 2 Tha Hood), Sandy Baron (from Vamp) and Clint Howard (from BloodRayne: The Third Reich, House Of The Dead and Not Like Us).

This time... luck has nothing to do with it.

Leprechaun 2 Review

The first Leprechaun movie sucked. THIS one was great. Gone is the slapstick comedy, whimsical music and tame family vibe. Now we get actual crimes, blood, boobs and rhymes.

"Scream as you may, scream as you might. If you try to escape, you'll be dead on this night!"

Leprechaun 2 starts a thousand years in the past, on his birthday. Apparently every thousandth bday he gets to pick a woman to be his bride. He uses magic to make her sneeze. On the third sneeze she has no choice but to hook up with him, it's a little bit noncon.

"She sneezes once, she sneezes twice, she'll be me bride when she sneezes thrice!"

The only thing that can save her is someone, anyone, yelling "bless you". He starts making some random woman sneeze, the leprechaun's slave yells "bless you", he kills the slave. Fast-forward a thousand years and it's his bday again, and he's on the hunt for another unlucky bride, in L.A. of all places.

There's a few key differences between the first Leprechaun and this one. There's lost gold that he has to find again, but that's only a subplot, his real goal is to snag a hot blonde. He's also no longer hurt by four leaf clovers, this time around its rod iron for some reason. And then there's the best key difference, the leprechaun is now super evil and mischievous. He runs around cracking jokes and dropping sick rhymes. He can also now mimic people's voices and make them hallucinate, which he of course uses to kill.

I think the only thing that pulled this movie down for me was the pacing at times. It started dragging throughout the middle and near the end. But the over the top blood and humor easily makes up for it. Overall, Leprechaun 2 was a blast to watch.

Worth Watching?

If you like cheesy old horror comedies, then definitely. Leprechaun 2 and a few green beers would make a fun night any night.
