Kristy (2014) Review

Horrorific content by Yo Adrian on November 24th, 2018 | Movie Review | Holiday, College, Serial Killer, Thanksgiving

It’s about a college girl who has to fight off a group of serial killer cultists while alone at her school over Thanksgiving weekend.

Kristy was directed by Olly Blackburn (who also directed Donkey Punch) and stars Ashley Greene (from Summer's Blood), Haley Bennett (from The Haunting Of Molly Hartley) and Lucas Till (from The Disappointments Room).

Kristy Review

Kristy is part of a very short list of thanksgiving horror movies and one I decided to finally watch after a hefty serving of turkey and a few glasses of wine. I heard some good things about this movie online, but also saw its low star ratings floating around, but figured Thanksgiving dinner had me satiated enough to be able to passively enjoy anything.

Turns out Kristy isn't really a movie about Thanksgiving as much as it was a movie that uses Thanksgiving as a reason to give Justine, our antagonist, the entire campus to herself for the weekend.

The movie itself looks great but is full of plot holes, frustratingly bad decision making and is overall pretty generic making it highly predictable.

Worth Watching?

No way, if you're looking for a cat and mouse home invasion movie there's better options out there like Hush, You're Next and The Strangers . And if you're looking for actual Thanksgiving horror movies you can't go wrong with Blood Rage ("It's Not Cranberry Sauce!")
