It's about a whole crew of Chucky's who infiltrate a mental hospital in an attempt to kill off Nica, Chuck's last standing victim.
Cult of Chucky was directed by Don Mancini (who also directed Curse Of Chucky and Seed Of Chucky) and stars Brad Dourif (from Gingerclown and Last Kind Words), Fiona Dourif (from Arbor Demon and Fear Clinic) and Alex Vincent (from Child's Play 2 and Child's Play).
You may feel a little prick
In Curse of Chucky, Chucky targeted a new family that he knew from back in his old days. He had started to kill them all but ended up getting killed himself in a toy store before he could finish. After getting killed in the toy store he used voodoo to possess a Good Guy doll starting his new life as Chucky. The first person he revealed his new identity to was Andy Barclay. The voodoo spell allowed him to jump back into the first human body he revealed himself to. Andy fought back of course so Chucky ended up killing everyone around him. Andy later became an orphan so Chucky had to kill his way through his foster family as well. Then it was Tiffany's family. After them he was finally able to finish what he started, going after Nica and her family. He got everyone but Nica and Nica took the rap for the kills and got sent to a mental hospital for it. Cult of Chucky picks up where Curse left off, with Nica in the mental hospital.
"If I wanted you dead you'd be tits up by now."
Cult of Chucky easily has the best opening scene of any movie in this franchise. Hell, it has one of the better opening scenes in all of horror. Most reviews have to be careful to not spoil major plot twists or endings. This review has to be careful to not spoil the beginning!
After the epic intro we're taken to the mental hospital where Nica is meeting all of her fellow patients / new Chucky victims. But how is Chucky going to break into a high security insane asylum? Easy, Jennifer Tilly / Tiffany drops by during visiting hours and literally drops Chucky in her lap. From this point forward Chucky does what Chucky does.
"I don't know whether to kill him or just take notes!"
Cult of Chucky is very different in style and tone from the previous movie, Curse of Chucky. Curse was dark and sinister, Cult is very bright and sanitized. It's a hospital so everything is bright white and wide open. It's also winter so everything outside is white with snow, both on the ground and slowly falling. Everything is very dreamy and hypnotic. The quiet hospital scenes reminded me a lot of Halloween 2 and The Exorcist 3.
"You know what lady, you're next."
This 7th movie in the Child's Play franchise got a mixed reaction from the horror community, it's a love or hate type of movie. It's just so different. It's right up there with Bride of Chucky and Seed of Chucky in terms of style deviation. I personally liked this one, the dreamy tone and stark white environment just really contrasted well with the horror and gore.
"This IS the end, fucker!"

Worth Watching?
I liked it. It's a serious horror that expands on the Child's Play story in a creative way.
