A Taste Of Phobia is a series of 14 horror shorts, each showcasing a different phobia, which you're guided through by a woman finding these shorts on TV (and who eventually finds herself in a segment of her own).
14 International Directors Push Fear To The Limit
A Taste of Phobia is a lot like The ABCs of Death, where a short is assigned to each letter of the alphabet. Here, a short is assigned to each of 14 phobias which include things like a fear of hair, medication, virgins, feces, germs and even a fear of mazes.
The first short starts strong, with a climax reminiscent of Cabin Fever. The other's are hit 'n miss. Most of the directors are only known in the world of Euro indie cinema and budgets were clearly limited. This isn't a B-horror by any means, the cinematography and editing were both quality in many of the segments, but many of the shorts do suffer from weak scripts and acting. Of course, that's not necessarily a bad thing since it can add a layer of humor depending on your perspective.
If you're a fan of rapid-fire horror shorts than yes. Even though I couldn't personally get into it, I did find myself looking forward to how each director would approach their assigned phobia, especially the more quirky ones. If you're a fan of movies like ABC's of Death or Holidays you'll enjoy A Taste of Phobia. I personally prefer anthologies with stories that are interwoven more that give a better sense of cohesion like Southbound and Trick 'r Treat.
