Pollyanna McIntosh, known for her horror roles in The Walking Dead and the ‘Ding Dong’ segment of Tales of Halloween, made her directorial debut this weekend at Austin’s SXSW Film Festival. Darlin’, the sequel to 2011’s The Woman, made its world premiere March 9th. Additional screenings are being held March 12th and 16th.
McIntosh reprises her role as The Woman in Darlin’, which follows a feral teenager ( Lauryn Canny) who is found in the woods and taken into care by members of a church. Unfortunately they don’t know what it means when they try to make Darlin’ a ‘good girl’, because she’s carrying some terrible secrets. The Woman raised her, and she will stop at nothing to get her daughter back.
The teaser trailer dropped the day of the premiere, and though it leaves a lot of questions up in the air, it does give us an indication that we should expect plenty of bloodshed.
McIntosh, who also wrote Darlin’s screenplay, is currently directing a segment for the upcoming holiday horror anthology Deathcember.
