Sony Drops New Trailer for 2019's Escape Room

For those not yet in the know, Escape Room follows the story of six total strangers who have been invited to compete in a mysterious series of immersive experiences (escape rooms). However, they soon find out that there’s a very macabre twist to the challenge at hand. The person that exits each escape room last must pay with their life. How many of the six will come out of the experience alive?

Originally titled The Maze while still in production, Escape Room brings plenty of awesome talent to the table when it comes to its cast. It stars Taylor Russell (Lost in Space, Down a Dark Hall ), Logan Miller, Deborah Ann Woll (True Blood, Daredevil), Tyler Labine ( Tucker & Dale vs Evil), Jay Ellis, and Nik Dodani as the six unwitting players fighting for their lives. It’s based on a screenplay by Bragi F. Schut and Maria Melnik, as well as produced by Neal H. Moritz and Ori Marmur.

And if you’re thinking you’ve heard the name Escape Room somewhere before, you’re right. The upcoming Robitel-directed production is not to be confused with any of the other existing horror movies of the same name. It also joins popular franchises with similar themes (e.g. Saw and Cube), as escape rooms in general are nothing if not hot right now. You won’t have to wait long to partake in this particular adventure though. Escape Room will officially hit theaters in January 2019. In the meantime, definitely check out the trailer!
