If you’re like most American Horror Story fans, you’re more excited than ever for Wednesday’s premier of American Horror Story: Apocalypse. Long-time viewers have enjoyed looking for possible connections between the popular anthology’s standalone seasons for years, but this year definitely promises to be one for the record books. To begin with, it’s a unique look at a familiar topic -- the end of the world. Also, Apocalypse will revisit both characters and storylines from two of the AHS’s most popular seasons, Murder House and Coven. (Whether they’ll be coming together in completely familiar ways or unexpected new ones remains to be seen, but our money’s on both.)
As always, the advertising and buzz-generating campaigns behind American Horror Story are on point. The newest series of teaser videos plays up the collision between Murder House and Coven even further by suggesting there might be even more connections to look forward to. Each depicts the destruction of an iconic location from a previous season (including the titular locations from Hotel, Freak Show, and Asylum). Are they clues to upcoming events from this year’s season or just fun advertising? No one really knows, but we sure do love guessing.
Apocalypse will see the return of fan favorite Jessica Lange as Murder House’s elusive Constance Langdon. We’ll also see Sarah Paulson return in a triple role – Cordelia Foxx, Billie Dean Howard, and a brand new character we have yet to meet. Series regulars Emma Roberts, Evan Peters, Kathy Bates, Taissa Farmiga, and more will be showing up to the party sooner or later too. There are even a few fun guests stars to watch for like Joan Collins, The Path’s Kyle Allen, and Unreal’s Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman. Don’t miss the much-anticipated premiere when it drops Wednesday, September 12th on FX!
