OC alum Mischa Barton first earned her horror stripes when she appeared in M. Night Shyamalan’s The Sixth Sense back in 1999. She’s continued to add to her horror-centric filmography with additional gems like L.A. SlasherThe Hoarder, and Zombie Killers: Elephant’s Graveyard. This September, fans of Barton’s work in the genre can catch her as Kelly Owen in Uncork’d Entertainment’s psychological thriller, The Basement.

Directed by dynamic duo Brian M. Conley and Nathan Ives, The Basement follows the story of Bill Anderson (played by Jackson Davis who also co-starred with Barton in Deserted). Bill is a twisted, devious serial killer known as “The Gemini” who wants nothing more than to reenact his own capture. He abducts Craig Owen (Cayleb Long), holds him captive in the titular basement, and demands that he act out Bill’s part. Bill, on the other hand, intends to play everyone else, cycling through a terrifying array of personas in the process. Will Craig be able to endure Bill’s torture chamber and ultimately beat him at his own game before it’s too late?

Early buzz on The Basement praises the performances of the main cast, particularly Barton and Davis, as well as the directing chops of Conley and Ives. Tracie Thoms (Death Proof), Baily Anne Borders (The 5th Wave), and Sarah Nicklin ( Atomic Brain Invasion) also have roles in the film. Catch it at a theater near you or on VOD when it sees its 10-market release September 14, 2018!
