The once-banned micro-budget exploitation horror Invasion of the Blood Farmers is coming to Blu-ray, courtesy of Severin Films. You can pre-order the film now for its February 26 release.
The film is set in Westchester County New York, where a cult of druid farmers interested in harvesting blood terrorize a number of young people in order to attempt to resurrect their dead queen by infusing the blood into her body. The film’s tagline: They Plant the Living and Harvest the Dead.
Invasion of the Blood Farmers was created on a $24,000 budget, and most of the cast was paid in six packs of beer. Sporting a 2.9 star rating on IMDB, this “so bad it’s good” feature has become a cult favorite, partly due to its being seized in the UK for its consideration as a “video nasty.” (Yet somehow it received a PG rating from the MPAA!)
The film has been scanned from the original negatives from 1972. Special features included on the Blu-ray:
Audio Commentary with Director Ed Adlum and Actress Ortrum Tippel. Moderated by Kier-La Janisse, author of House of Psychotic Women
