Last year, Netflix released their original horror film, Cam , a Blumhouse production. After astounding success and critical acclaim, creators Isa Mazzei and Daniel Goldhaber are teaming up with Blumhouse once again for another horror film featuring a female lead.

Mazzei, who wrote Cam as her first entry into filmmaking, is a former cam girl and brought a unique perspective to a film about sex workers. In the film, a cam girl is targeted by her doppelganger who is hellbent on destroying her life with the things she does on camera.

Goldhaber, who directed Cam, will collaborate with Mazzei once again in a new horror film that, according to an interview with the Daily Beast , will be a female-led serial killer horror. In that interview, Mazzei expressed her frustrations with certain horror films and what sets her protagonist apart. “It really irritates me about horror that it’s still such a trope to have a dumb woman. You hear a sound in your basement. I don’t know a single woman that would go down into the basement—we just don’t, we’re smart,” she said. “It was very important to me to have a protagonist that doesn’t make dumb decisions, but still have it be scary and to show that that can be done.”
