Annual Maryland “Blair Witch Experience” to Return This October

If you’re a die-hard fan of the iconic Blair Witch Project franchise (unlike All Horror’s very own Penguin Pete, as you can see from his scathing review of The Blair Witch Project), then you may have fantasized about making a pilgrimage to Burkittsville, Maryland a time or two so you can visit the witch’s stomping grounds in person. If so, you’re in luck. Fellow fan Matt Blazi will be hosting his annual Blair Witch Experience once again this October 13-14, 2018.

Blazi first launched the experience six years ago for the benefit of other Blair Witch fans and it was an instant hit. In essence, it’s a fan-led camping trip based on the original found footage classic. As with previous Blair Witch Experience events, participants can expect a visit to each of the most iconic locations as visited by Heather, Josh, and Mike in the film.

Giveaways, activities, an overnight camping trip in Patapsco State Park, and a campfire screening of The Blair Witch Project are also part of the mix. The location tour includes visits to all of the following sites:

  • The Silver Rail Diner

  • Adamstown Market

  • Knights Inn Motel

  • Staub’s Country Inn

  • Stickman Forest

  • Burkittsville Cemetery

  • Ruins of the Rustin Parr house

  • Coffin Rock (as well as surrounding areas).

Those interested in being part of this year’s Blair Witch experience are advised to come dressed in attire appropriate for hiking in the woods. They should also bring their own food and camping supplies. Although it’s free to attend the actual event, accommodations at the campsite run around $30 per night per person, so come prepared.
