What to Expect

The Ruins is a vacation horror movie about a group of friends who venture out to explore some ancient ruins, ruins that happen to be heavily guarded by ruthless locals, for a very good reason. This movie has amazing gore and the practical effects really sell it. There’s several memorable gore scenes that are so crazy they make me chuckle just thinking about them. Trust me, when you have a character yelling “Kill me! Kill meeee! Kill meeeeee!” you know you’re in for a wild ride. There’s some unrealistic scenes and parts of the story follow a familiar pattern, but overall The Ruins is a blast to watch if you don’t take it too seriously.
