Critic Reviews:

As "The Resident" winds its way forward, it begins to take a direction into the familiar zone. That zone though is still done with high suspense and dramatic tension. But as viewers, we probably will connect largely on the "we’ve seen this before" vibe which revisits the idea of a stalker, psycho love interest or tenant with way too much time on his hand and access to too many nooks and crannies.

Generic and intermittently silly, The Resident does get under the skin, with a drip drip of paranoia as it dawns on Swank she is being watched – landlord Max has converted the building into a peeper's paradise of spy holes.

It moves fast, and it’s really very entertaining, but there’s nothing we haven’t seen before. Once we see that yes, it is really Max who’s been peeping, then the suspense and mystery fades fast. The finale is a lot of cat-and-mouse through a dark maze of passages; again, nothing new.
