Summary

Millionaire playboy Hugo flies around Acapulco in his private helicopter to pick up sexy young women. He whisks them away to his secluded old castle, where he wines and dines them. With the aid of his bald mute little helper Gorgo, he kills his dates, keeping their heads in a crystal cage and feeding their chopped up body parts to his 1,000-strong army of blood thirty, flesh hungry cats.

What to Expect

The Night of a Thousand Cats is one of several wild low budget horror movies directed by Rena Cardona Jr. This one is about a jet setting millionaire who plays with women the way a cat plays with its food, before snuffing them out and feeding them to his cats. 1000 Cats is a fun little horror flick with a short runtime of just over an hour. There's not a whole lot that makes sense in this movie, but that's part of what makes it fun. One example is in the editing. Many of the cuts are so jarring you don't even have a sense of time. One minute the guy is running on a beach with a babe, the next he's in his remote estate having wine, then he's sitting outside of another woman's house on a motorcycle that just materialized out of nowhere. The cool thing is none of this ruins the movie, it just keeps you on your toes. Feisty trash cinema has been made of less, but The Night of a Thousand Cats has a problem that kicks in with that very first boat scene and never lets up: it is so boring.

The only positive thing I can say is that it's miles ahead of Cardona Jr.'s later cash-in exposes, such as SURVIVE, TINTORERA and GUYANA, CULT OF THE DAMNED (all featuring Mr. One-Note-Performance himself, Hugo Stiglitz).

You would think a movie with a title such as this one would appeal to cat lovers, but be warned, this is a very unfriendly movie towards cats and is chock full of Kitty Carnage Warnings!
