Summary

Chic socialite Melanie Daniels enjoys a passing flirtation with an eligible attorney in a San Francisco pet shop and, on an impulse, follows him to his hometown bearing a gift of lovebirds. But upon her arrival, the bird population runs amok. Suddenly, the townsfolk face a massive avian onslaught, with the feathered fiends inexplicably attacking people all over Bodega Bay.

What to Expect

The actual plot of The Birds is 'humans go about their business, then birds attack, then they attack some more, and that's it.' But for the record, Melanie Daniels (Tippi Hedren) and Mitch Brenner (Rod Taylor) are socialite playgirl and playboy in the parts of San Francisco which were ritzy even in the 1960s. They have a playful little flirt which is headed for a courtship for them, out of little more motive than boredom. Just when their liaisons are beginning to get frisky, birds start attacking.
