Critic Reviews:

It’s been fifteen years since the Ryan Reynolds version of The Amityville Horror (2005), and there have been more than fifteen Amityville-related movies produced since then. Anyone up for a quindecuple feature? You still won’t have seen them all. It’s a crowded house.

Intentional or not, Douglas and Kosar should be thankful. Without Reynolds around to liven things up with his impeccable wit (and pecs), their take on The Amityville Horror would be just another in the scrap heap of failed remakes.

The movie looks and sounds sharp in a bland kind of way, and the make-up effects are convincingly gruesome. There are a couple of suspenseful scenes, the best of which is a rooftop rescue and, within their limited characters, Ryan Reynolds and Melissa George convince as a dreamy couple coming under strain.
