Even though the story does take a bit too long to get things moving, that’s really just me nitpicking at the greatness that is Summer of ’84..
If you can battle through the unnecessarily long runtime, you’ll come to an ending that is darkly satisfying.
An improbably plotted final 15 minutes leaves off on a depressingly bleak note betraying a majority of the movie’s mood. You definitely won’t leave the film feeling upbeat.
