Harder’s film is, for the most part, a visually unremarkable movie that weaves an overwrought mystery narrative, muddying the potential impact of its core ideas. But that’s not to say it doesn’t have any merit.
Basically, imagine Get Out but with LGBT people instead of black people. No, this isn’t a spoiler since they’re not trying to take over their “LGBT powers”.
Spiral is the kind of film that makes you lean back and realize how little has changed and how much work still needs to be done.
