Sinister 2 is a supernatural movie that's by and large about the cop from Sinister who worked with Elliot and therefore is privy to Bughuul and his ways. He burns down the house Elliot and his family lived in as a way of preventing a new family from moving in, breaking Bughuul's cycle. But it turns out there's more homes where Bughuul left his mark so now the guy, no longer a cop, travels the country burning down murder homes. He gets to one place, gas can in hand, only to learn there's a young family squatting on the place. This is a problem for two reasons. One, he can't burn the place down. It made me think of Children of the Corn only because the story revolves around a couple of kids who are both threatening to adults and who happen to live on a farm. It's more supernatural than Children of the Corn and way less religious, but it's hard not to think of Isaac and Malachi terrorizing adults while watching Zach and Dylan, the two boys in this movie, do the same.
Sinister 2 gives you more of what you want to see. More creative snuff films, more ghost kids and more Bughuul. It also gives you a lot more drama. The mom in this movie is separated from her abusive husband who is constantly trying to take custody of her boys. And the cop from the first Sinister falls for her and starts fighting with her husband over her. I didn't personally think any of this side story was necessary, but it's a part of it nonetheless.
