Movie Review: New Nightmare (1994) ReviewHorror Lists: The Nightmare on Elm Street Franchise Ranked Worst to First
Critic Reviews:
While featuring plenty of scares and nightmare sequences, New Nightmare opts to take its time, presenting a much slower film than it’s predecessors.
A bold, cerebral reinvention for the Nightmare on Elm Street saga, New Nightmare was perhaps a bit *too* far ahead of its time, almost ensuring that it wouldn’t initially be regarded as the brilliant piece of horror filmmaking many have since reflected on it being.
The Nightmare series had its ups and downs, the bulk of the series ending on kind of a sour note with Freddy’s Dead. Wes Craven did a fine job bringing Freddy back for one last time and turning everything we knew about the series on its head with New Nightmare.
