What to Expect

Leprechaun Returns is the last movie in a legendary 8-part franchise. Now, part of the reason it's so legendary is because it's so, so bad. Some of the movies in the leprechaun series are some of the worst movies I've ever seen in my life, no joke. The movie prior to this, Leprechaun Origins, was easily one of the worst in the series. So let me just say that my expectations for Leprechaun Returns were about as low as they get. This was cool because this movie happened to be incredible! I rank it second in the franchise. It didn't get the top spot only because it didn't have Warick Davis who injected a boat load of charisma to the leprechaun character.

Leprechaun Returns is a direct sequel to the original, taking place 25 years later. The movie is set in the same house as the original and even includes an original actor who plays a central character. It references the original often and even carries the original story further. This was just awesome since one of the frustrating things about the leprechaun franchise is that each movie never referenced the prior and therefore had nothing to build from. This movie was a horror sequel done right.
