Summary

While driving, the pregnant horror-movie actress Kyôko Harase and her fiancé are in a car crash caused by the Toshio's friend. Kyôko loses her baby and her fiancé winds up in a coma. Kyôko was cursed together with a television crew when they shot a show in the haunted house where Kayako was brutally murdered by her husband years ago.

What to Expect

Ju-on: The Grudge 2 is the 4th part of an 8 part Ju-on series and the 2nd part of a 6 part Grudge series. This sequel picks up about a year after the original Ju-on: The Grudge leaves off. The house that created The Grudge curse is abandoned and known all over Japan for being haunted. Because of this, a TV show is filmed there to exploit the curse for cash, which of course opens up everybody involved to catching the curse. Ju-on 2 follows a famous actress and her fiance as they try to escape from the wrath of Kayako and Toshio. Ju-on 2 starts off fast, with the cat kid is killin' fools in the first 5 minutes. This was an exciting start that had me strapped in for a wild sequel. But unfortunately everything slowed down to a crawl after the opening scene. The problem with Takashi Shimizu’s Ju-on/Grudge films is that after watching a few of them – this was the third one that I had seen – they all start to seem the same.

It's decent stuff, slow but creepy with interesting characters and inventive endings, including one with a black killer wig that had the preview audience in stitches which I hope was the point.

There are a fair few out there who regard Ju-on: The Grudge 2 as superior to its predecessor, but I am not one of them.
