What to Expect

This remake of John Carpenter's 1978 cult classic does exactly what the original did, get a rise out of people. Carpenter got a rise out of people using methods that worked back in '78 and Rob Zombie used methods that got a rise out of people in 2007. This Halloween is grungy, violent and vulgar. And it gives you what the original didn't, a look inside young Michael Myers' mind and a reveal into what made him into the evil killer he became. You get to see what happened before he started killing and you get to see what happened while he was in the mental hospital for all those years. You even get to see the bloody breakout that happened just before the original story started. The original Michael Myers was slow and mysterious. This Michael Myers was intense and monstrous. The movie sticks to the same original storyline and even incorporates many of the same scenes which helps to tap into the nostalgia that so many Halloween fans possess. This remake probably has more haters than anything else, but I personally loved it and think it's one of the better remakes of a cult classic we've seen in a long time.
