What to Expect

Hacksaw tells the story of a notorious serial killer named Ed "Hacksaw" Crow, who doesn't kill using a hacksaw. Instead he uses chainsaws and drills. Why wasn't he named Ed "Driller Killer" Crow? Well, that would have been way too cool for a movie this bad. Hacksaw is part documentary, part found footage and all micro budget fluff. It starts out exciting. The intro sports a ton of gore and a setup that makes you think you're in for something special. But apparently 90% of their budget went into the first 9 minutes because after that it all just goes downhill. Most of Hacksaw is just watching people talk. Some people are being interviewed about a building (the building the killer killed in, not the killer himself), some are just chatting during a never ending road trip. You could fast-forward half the movie and not miss anything important. Watching Hacksaw is like watching the intro to a Saw movie followed by an hour of amateur YouTube videos and finally the ending to a low budget 80's B-horror. If I sound frustrated it's because I am. Hacksaw roped me in with a bloody intro just to leave me wondering how I managed to sit through the entire thing.
