Summary

Eight years have passed since the events of the second film. Chucky has been resurrected once again and seeks revenge on Andy, his former owner, who is now a teenager enrolled in military school.

What to Expect

At the end of Child's Play 2, Chucky was a melted mangled mess. Andy and Kyle seriously messed him up and walked away scot-free. Child's Play 3 starts off several years later in the same toy factory where Chucky was melted and mangled. It had been shut down for years but is now being fired back up, the toy company is putting the Good Guy dolls back on the market. So what's the first thing the factory does? That's right, they scoop up Chucky's mangled body, that still has blood seeping out of it, and tosses it into the new batch of melted plastic that's coating all the new dolls. Chucky's back.

Child's Play 3 takes place at a military academy that Andy, now a teenager, just got shipped off to after being unable to adapt as a foster kid. This Child's Play gets a lot of hate out in the horror community. And I gotta admit I wasn't a fan of it either the first time I saw it. It felt redundant, like it was just more Chucky chasing more random victims. But now during this second watch I can see it's so much more. It shows Andy progressing from victim to fighter to protector, and shows Chucky evolving into the charismatic villain we all know.

Child’s Play 3 is an average sequel at best. While kudos have to go to the filmmakers for at least trying something different by placing the movie in a military camp and aging Andy eight years so it’s not following the same old “doll chases young boy” routine again, the film messes up by regurgitating tired boot camp clichés and, um, following the same old “doll chases young boy” routine again with the introduction of the Tyler character.

– That Was A Bit Mental

Child's Play 3 might suck - nay, it does suck - and its whole-hearted sucking might be a side-effect of its remarkable lack of imagination as part of the big huge redundant world of 1990s slashers, but by God, it's not boring.

– Alternate Ending

While it does have it's moments, this is the most bland entry in the series.
