Critic Reviews:

It’s “The Bad Seed meets The Omen,” and it’s predictable, plodding and dim-witted every step of the way.

Brightburn is ultimately a fine example of high-concept storytelling: taking an easily digestible idea, and exploring it to its full potential in compelling and entertaining fashion.

It’s easy to dismiss Brightburn as being a paper-thin concept of the reverse-Superman, and writers Brian and Mark Gunn (cousins of Guardians of the Galaxy writer/director James Gunn, who was also Executive Producer) don’t do anything to dispel the notion with their lack of serious characterization or concept development.
