Although this film is more distinct than its predecessors, the overall tone and feel of the film is very much the same. It’s a true sequel, but with some improvements, especially regarding Ash.
Army of Darkness is great film that exceeded expectations. I can’t say that I choose one over other because all 3 Evil Dead franchise films were simply brilliant.

It would be virtually impossible to think of any other franchise that could throw itself into the Middle Ages and not bomb, but it is precisely the unserious nature with which this film presents itself that is its redeeming quality.
