A bereaved Satanist couple kidnap a pregnant woman so they can use an ancient spellbook to put their dead grandson's spirit into her unborn child, but they end up summoning more than they bargained for.
What to Expect
The gist of this movie is an old couple who, after years of grieving, turn to a satanic church for help in resurrecting their grandson who they lost in a car accident. That's really all you need to know, and honestly all you should know going into this one. It's not the story that makes the movie, it's the visual experience it pulls you into.
Anything for Jackson is kind of like The Conjuring in style, if the Warren's were satanic killers. It's also a little bit like Evil Dead in the way they accidentally summon the wrong demon using a necronomicon. And it's even like The Darkness in how evil spirits cling to the living. Finally, like The Conjuring, and a couple other movies in The Conjuring Universe, the demons are super creative in both how they look and how they evolve.
And that's pretty much all that should be said about it. If you like this style of movie, just watch it and go in as blind as possible.
