Critic Reviews:

Actually, B is too high of a letter for where this Lifetime-level "true" crime biopic lands on the salacious soap opera scale. [...] Too bad the film has zero informative value related to Wuornos’ real life, and only minimally more worth as trashy tabloid entertainment.

[American Boogeywoman is] crude exploitation from a one-note helmer who keeps trying to make his mark as some type of master of true crime fiction, once again returning to sensitive areas of abuse, murder, and neglect involving real people in dire situations to cook up entertainment that’s really just horrible B-moviemaking.

I would wholeheartedly recommend that you avoid this one on Netflix. Watch Monster (2003) by Patty Jenkins, starring Charlize Theron in her Academy Award-winning role, a thousand times instead. Or, you could check out one of the many documentaries about Aileen Wuornos.
