Welcome back to our series on Chinese Horror Movies Explained, where we explore the wacky, silly and crazy world of C-Horror movies and explain to you how the filmmakers get around the strict regulations and censorship imposed upon them by the Chinese government.
If there is one thing that appears a lot in Chinese horror movies, it’s hospitals. While in all the movies we have looked so far hospitals have played a bit part, in this movie it is the main attraction.
So what kind of hospital is on offer in this movie? A decrepit, derelict old war hospital? A recently renovated new ward? A spooky village chop-shop?
None of those. Sorry. But this video is still worth watching, trust me!
In Ghost Hospital we follow a woman called An who takes her lover and young child to a hospital to get her lovers leg cast removed. While there she falls asleep, loses her child and her lover goes missing. Going a quick risk analysis in her head, she decides to prioritise searching for her lover rather than her daughter and uncovers that the hospital they are in is hiding a secret.
They’re always hiding secrets, aren’t they? Well I am going to give you a hint: this hospital has a panic room!
How does that panic room come into play? Where is her daughter and what is going on in this hospital? The video below has all the answers you seek.

I've decided to dedicate my horror movie knowledge to Chinese horror movies - from the mainland, not Hong Kong or Taiwan. These are the stranger than strange, the weirder than weird and the badder than bad! Can they even be classed as horror films?
